Since our Vs are not 'performance' cars, the designers probably felt there was no need too install the necessary sensors.

If you are in North America, OBDII doesn't display oil temp (it is not an emissions contributor).



Use a good quality oil (especially a synthetic) and you can sleep soundly in any case.

In a water-cooled engine, oil temperature will pretty much mimic water temperature unless really extreme conditions (racing, upgrade towing, etc) are involved. So for the vast majority of vehicles it isn’t necessary and wouldn’t show much of interest anyway.

Personally oil pressure is more important to me. Oil temp however does matter in heavily stressed pickups towing heavy loads etc

It might be available via the obd2 port.
