Hi guys, new to the group but ive been seeing a lot of answers before on random searches and i see most answers about this code. We’ve done some of the recommended stuff but it’s still throwing up the P1399 code. Changed the spark plugs and wires then did valve adjustment. But after the adjustment the light was blinking. Before it was just steady. Thanks!

Which light was blinking?

From the P1399 code I'm guessing you have a 2001 or earlier CR-V.

Sorry, i have a 1999 crv. Located in New york. The check engine light was the one blinking.

So the official name for the light is Malfunction Indicator, and it comes on when there's a problem with the engine, transmission, or emission control systems.

When that light is flashing, it may indicate an engine misfire, which matches with the P1399 misfire code you have.

Of course that takes us back to the valve adjustment, and possibly a burnt (melted) exhaust valve. The way to test for a damaged valve is called a leak down test, and requires a shop with some special tools.

And this is something you should have checked very soon. There's the possibility that unburned gasoline is getting to the catalytic converter, which will damage it.
