Hello guys,

Could you please clarify whether the Honda CRV 5th Gen (2017-2020) all model - specifically speaking Touring models years comes standard with leather-wrapped gear knob or not. I'm confused about this because my local Honda dealership that sold me the car told me that it comes however online review videos on YouTube indicate that it doesn't. Watch the video for yourself.

I'm not actually sure it is leather on the Touring trim. It is more likely a synthetic.. often called "pleather" now days.

Pleather is more and more common in motor vehicles.. and in Honda's case.. they have begun replacing leather seats (which honestly were already partly pleather) with full pleather now days. The first model I observed this with in the US was the Odyessy, which.. being a family commute vehicle first and foremost.. makes complete sense.

I got a very nice 'leather' cover for my 2019 for about $5 on eBay. I'm very happy with it.

The youtube link didn't work, but it is my understanding that both the steering wheel and gearshift lever on Hondas I have owned are covered with leather and the seats are covered with leatherette. The leather discolors if not treated with a leather conditioner. The seats are not subject to stains but tend to crack. Actually, I have also had some staining as well as cracking on seats where in direct contact with the skin. Apparently the problem is my skin since I have encountered no one with the seat problems I have had.
