I bought my CR-V used about a year ago with 150,000 miles on it, and ever since i bought it it has made a grinding noise when i make hard left turns. The previous owner had tires with different depths of wear on every tire...a mechanic told me that in AWD vehicles the tires all need to be the same, so i bought a new set and the noise became much better. However, it still makes a grinding noise in hard left turns...Another mechanic thought that some bearings in the rear dif were going bad and said that it would take a week to fix (because they have to send part of the assembly off somewhere) and between 900-1400$ depending on how much damage was done. This sounds like an average price after reading other posts, but i was wondering if there was anything else i could try first, and how hard it would be to do it myself and what special tools id need to buy. I read on another post that changing the fluid three times might fix the problem which i will try first... thanks in advance

Do the 3x change...use ONLY Dual Pump fluid from Honda. Then report back.

I'm betting you will be happy.

PS Doesn't sound as if the techs you talked to are that familiar with Hondas. Recommend using a dealer or a local Honda specialist!!!!
