Rear view camera question with aftermarket stereo

I finally got around to replacing the head unit in my wife's CRV but haven't hooked up the rear view camera yet. It's a 2014 CRV EX-L w/nav. I realize that I may have to fashion an adapter to hook it into the new Pioneer HU, but was wondering if the camera can be connected to the iMid display. From searching, it seems like some CRVs w/o nav have the camera connected to iMid. Any ideas on how to accomplish that?

I checked Crutchfield.com, but since I don't know which Pioneer head unit you bought, I just selected one of the Pioneer models. Crutchfield also recommends an installation kit when you tell it what vehicle you drive, and will work with the head unit you select. For the one I selected there were two wiring harness options, one that provided support for the backup camera and one that did not.

So you might want to contact Pioneer about your head unit, and ask if they know of a wiring adapter that will allow you to use the built-in Honda backup camera.
These guys claimed to have tapped in to the iMID wiring harness and routed it to the after-market radio.
Good info here. I'm getting ready to do something similar with the 2013 CRV but would really like to keep the backup camera using the iMid display with an aftermarket CarPlay head unit.
I have a 2013 too and I would love to get the wiring diagram to tap in to the iMid camera signals.
I changed my head unit a while ago to a Kenwood I have gone to two places, Best Buy and my local audio spot, neither have been able to hookup the backup camera to my Kenwood.
I just bought a 2013 and I’m going to charge the head until soon. If the rear cameras still works through the IMID then I’ll wire a front facing camera to my new stereo and operate it though an independent off and on switch.
Have any forum members been able to make the i-Mid backup camera work through an aftermarket receiver? If so, did you retain the three backup camera settings and control of them through the steering wheel buttons?

Please dont open multiple threads asking the same question. You already have a new thread here: Aftermarket Receiver for Gen 4 CR-V EX-L without Navigation?
