My 2010 CRV (4WD) has a worn boot on the rear left axle. I can see grease coming out from the end of the boot. I would like to purchase the axle and take it to my mechanic to replace it. So far I put together a list of part options below. Does anyone have recommendation or experience on the following parts?

• OEM (Part#: 42311-SXS-A01) $320
• Napa (Line: NAPA Premium CV Shafts) $230
• TrakMotive (HO-8701) $57
• FVP (HO-8701) $72

I would like to consider aftermarket brands but I saw mixed reviews and opinions on them. I would appreciate any input on the parts. Thanks.

Ever considered installing a 'split boot' instead of the entire axle?

These don't always work perfectly, but its worth a try. The kits in the link come with grease, which is special for CV joints.

This is a great option. If the joint of the axle is in great condition, it might be better than getting an aftermarket axle that wouldn't fit perfectly I will run it by my mechanic to see if they think of it. Thanks!
