Japan, No insulation..
BTW are the Japanese models the ones that come with Short Wave Radio receivers built into the Head Unit? I am wondering if this is a capability that can be unlocked via software in any model.
We would need the Radio part number to confirm.

On models shipped from the Thailand factory to Australia, Asia, Latin America and Caribbean their is a "P" button in the button console, the same console that has traction control etc. This Button is to engage or disengage the active Perimeter/Parking Sonar system.

We're finding out that CRVs sold in New Zealand (presume elsewhere also) have fittings on the CVT for a Honda stacked plate style tranny cooler. USA CVTs do not have the fittings that allow the addition of a tranny cooler. Also, Honda dealers in New Zealand (presume elsewhere also) will not install a Honda trailer hitch unless a Honda tranny cooler is also installed.

On models shipped from the Thailand factory to Australia, Asia, South America and Caribbean the top end model CRVs have 4 ultra sonic sensors on each bumper. These give you an Audible and visual warning of objects approaching the front and rear of the vehicle and at about 45 degrees to the front and back sides also. The dash displays an outline of the vehicle with impact danger point and the bars change color as the object gets closer. The Audible tone starts as a intermittent beep that gets louder and faster as the object gets closer until it is a single loud tone.

Soft knee pads on the center console are included in the SA/Australian and Caribbean models.
It's possible that if someone can source them they should fit into the NA models.

Does anyone know the part numbers for the OEM center cup holder wood trim?
You can't buy these in the USA but you can buy from China. Check eBay and search for " 2017 CRV interior accessories"
Make sure you look through the listings because several people are selling the same item cheaper.

Took a look today (finally) and it looks like the kits presently for sale are stick-ons that go over the existing trim. But I'll keep checking and eventually I'll hopefully find a set, or find someone who can just buy them locally and send some. When I was in the VW community, there were several companies that specialized in doing just that -- you could get all sorts of European-only parts.

Hey all...

My dad says he has an EX ‘17 made for Canada, and mine’s an ‘18 EX made for the US.

His seems to resemble what I thought would be an LX for Canada, even though his sales receipt says it is an EX.

For example:

  • his has no moonroof. I thought the EX and higher trims had that in Canada.
  • his has 17” wheels, which I thought was only for LX
  • his has no USB ports in the rear passenger area, where has my EX does.
  • His does not have back up sensors, which I thought came with all EXs in Canada and US.
- same entertainment & HVAC systems, and most of the same electronics.

He seems to think that some of these options can be special ordered in Canada, whereas I am not convinced that’s true. In the US, you take the car as is, or leave it.

Does this seem like an LX in Canada? I’m wondering if the small town dealer he bought it from either didn’t know any better, or stiffed him.

What does your LX or EX in Canada look like?

Just curious. Did he buy it in Canada, or the US?

He bought it in Ontario... Canada. He says it was built in Canada, as well.

He seems to believe that all of the Canadian-market cars were built in Canada. Does anyone know that to be true? I think some of the US cars were built in Canada, so I wonder if some of the Canadian cars were built in the US?

If I remember correctly... I looked at the stickers of all the CRV’s in the parking lot at the dealer that I bought mine at, and I saw CRV’s built in two if not three different places, including Canada.

Check this, it shows what each trim should have.

This is awesome… Thank you!

This also brings up a conundrum.

My dad’s receipt for his car states that it is an EX. This bulletin from Honda Canada indicates that, by nature of the features his car has, it is an LX.

He does not have the original window sticker for the car, so I am wondering how I will determine whether he was ripped off by the dealer, either intentionally or unintentionally.

Any thoughts as to how I could find out the original sticker price in Canada, or maybe find a copy of an original 2017 LX sticker?

If I am going to encourage him/us to drive the two hours from where he lives to the dealer for a “discussion” of the matter, I had better have all my facts straight… :)

Just as a minor update for this thread, given that the UK has had the 5th Gen CR-V for a year now....

CR-Vs for the UK, both 1.5T and Hybrid are imported in from Japan.

I have the top spec "EX" trim, which includes the Heads Up Display, dipping side mirror (when reversing) but lacks the Lane Watch feature. Pretty sure no UK-specc'd Honda has ever had that.

My car also has heated front wipers, with an opening/closing grille mesh behind the main grille/radar system. It also has the white ambient door/footwell lights & Active Cornering LED lights.

And of course, the nice hands free tailgate!

This link will take you to a Honda VIN Decoder tool. Enter the vehicle VIN in the "Enter VIN" box and the model version and other pertinent info will be provided. Examples at bottom of page.
