Went to go to work this morning, started the car and it made an awful racket… almost instantly I knew what would be missing.
According to the local Facebook page mine was was one about 10 that were taken last night.
Insurance have said it’s a total loss because of the age of the car, so that’s out the window.

Anyone have experience of what does and doesn’t work - I know our cars scan be very picky when it comes to senders…

Sorry to hear your bad news there is far too much of this going on – A friend of mine had her car stolen on a low loader last week and only away from the motor for 20 mins.

Hope your insurance get you sorted very quickly we must not let the scumbags win.

Insurance have already said they’d total-loss it so looks like I’ll be paying for it out my own pocket.
Insurers are just as criminal if you ask me.

Anyone know the size of bolts that hold the cat onto the manifold? Mine will need to be extractor socketed off so I won’t be able to reuse them. (Rounded off)

14mm I believe. You can order new nuts from Honda for a few £'s

Thanks! I’ll grab some from screwfix and replace with proper at a later date. I’ve got the day off to put the new cat and exhaust on and I can’t reuse anything under here… it’s entirely chewed up or just lumps of oxide 🙄

Me again… in a pinch, will it cause any long term headaches if I just bolt the cat to this rather than refit those spring things? I’m guessing they’re there to absorb some flex in the engine / exhaust system?

The bolts need the springs, as that's what create the compression on the clamp.

Righto, I’ll have to make something up for the short term (snapped one getting them out) and I need the car back on the road 😵‍💫

As the title really… after much fettling (and not really having the right tools) the replacement cat (previous was stolen) is on. I’ve definitely got a small leak at the manifold (reused old gasket) but now have a persistent P1157 fault code. Could an exhaust leak cause this?

Cheapo A/F mixture sensor?

Should have taken it to a garage?

My body is broken from laying on the frozen ground, but looking to resolve.

Cheap A/F sensor is my guess...unless you wired the new sensor incorrectly/loosely.

I truly feel your pain having to work on your back, in the cold.

I’ll get under it again and double check everything. It was getting dark and heading toward 0° by the time I stopped yesterday. Everything hurts today. I’m getting too old for this nonsense 😵‍💫

Well, had the cat off, replaced the doughnut gasket with a new one, still have a leak there… MIL still on. P1157 persists. HOS02 “not ready”

Well, here’s the thing… the cat sensors and middle pipe all came as a kit from eBay, so the sensors are absolutely unbranded.
I’ve ordered myself a Denso but that won’t be here for best part of a week 🙄

Thieves pulled the wires out the back of the plugs sensor side, so I unclipped the empty plugs. Car side wiring looks ok, but haven’t checked it with a meter.

If the wires were disconnected, how do you know you got them into the correct position?

As in, the plugs from the old previous sensors were present inside the ones that are attached to the loom

UPDATE: Denso sensor fixed the issue.

Update the second… so the fault code has gone and the garage have “sealed the exhaust as best they can”, but it seems that the exhaust manifold is “defective”, as in cracked or warped.

So I need a new manifold.
(Long audible sigh)

Should have let the insurance company write it off.
