We have a 1998 Honda CRV AWD, with a m4ta automatic transmission. Our mechanic said that the transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced. He is a friend whom we have known for many years.
I have a home mechanic background but I haven't worked to any serious degree on Honda's before.
I am considering removing and rebuilding the transmission, and replacing the timing belt at the same time.
My question is this:
Would it be easier to just pull out the engine and transmission together since we want to replace the timing belt and rebuild the tranny at the same time?
Are there any solid online guides or videos for ether job that you all could point me to? I'll grab a haynes manuel (etc) but I'm guessing someone has made a good vfaq or video for this job.
Besides rebuilding the transmission,
what other parts would we need besides a timing belt? Are the timing belt tensioner and water pump good ideas to replace at the same time?
Thank you in advance for your help.
