I want to purchase a floor jack to raise the car for general maintenance. Have been using the tire jack for too long and want to move on from that for safety sake.
However, the jack points are too narrow to accommodate both a floor jack and a jack stand at the same time. Where else in front can a floor jack be safely placed to lift?

Please be as specific as possible so I can identify the area. thanks!

I lift the front of my '06, then place the jack stands under the tow hooks in front. There is usually a central spot on the front sub-frame where it is safe to raise the entire end.

I also use a rubber hockey puck under any lift point (with a groove cut into it so that it won't slip or move when it is on the rocker panel seam). Less chance of causing rust that way.
