My 2011 never has an issue during the summer months, but, in Michigan cold winters, it gets like a flat spot where it just hums when I hit the key. Battery is year old..I'm thinking it's the solenoid...anyone else ever had this problem? I replaced the starter a few years ago, and it's doing others in, so I am suspicious that the garage really didn't change the starter!

If you can see/reach the starter with a broom handle or piece of wood, give it a whack the next time it 'just hums'.
(Sounds as if the Bendix Gear isn't engaging with the teeth on the flywheel) That may get it to work.

There might be stiff (improper) grease on the Bendix. But taking it out to clean & re-lubricate it is taking a chance, since it is a bit labor intensive to access.

If the starter was a parts-store brand, you may want to just replace the darn thing.
