Someone told me that they thought that Honda made a hard cover to go over the storage area in the rear of a CRV.

Does anyone know of such an item?

And is there a larger console that goes OVER the stock console?

Thanks to all!!!

Umm, there is a plastic folding table that covers the round "spare tire" hole. Mine also has a rubber mat that covers the carpet behind the rear seats.

I know about the table... As I said someone thought that Honda made a cover that went over the cargo area to keep people from seeing what was back there.

Also, I thought that I saw a larger console unit that went over the stock console.

ANYONE?

I believe the first gens had a soft cover for the cargo area; very fortunate to have one as it is a good screen to protect my items. I am not sure about a hard cover, if anyone has one I would love to see it for the first gen crvs.

Hello,

Unfortunately Honda didn't make a hard cover for 1st gen. Soft cover only. Which I recommend as it works great.
But if it's a hard cover you want then why not try to make your own? Thick card or thin wood (for weight issues) would work and then cover the top in material.

As for a larger console, I don't see how that would work just sitting over the original one. How would you use any of the buttons etc if there's something over them? I think that one is a myth. Sorry.

Hope this helps

There were 2 covers offered for the 1st gen in the US.

1 like above that has rods that go into holes, (that need drilled), into the rear cargo area plastics on the side. #4 post has better pics of it.

In 2001, final yr of the 1st gen in the US, they offered a retractable one as well. (Super rare.) Again, you needed to do some trimming of the rear panels. These are so hard to find I cant find a pic currently. I had one on my old laptop. If I fet a chance I will see if I can get it to work so I can post a pic of it.

Both have been discontinued for over 10yrs now through Honda Im sorry to say.

As for the plastic "table" up front there IS something that goes on it raising it up so people with a 5spd manual have an armrest. It though was an accessory for other parts of the world and not here in the US. Ive seen pics of them in CR-V's mainly from Puerto Rico that were imported fenerally from the UK as used vehicles.

Post #9 in this link shows a pic of it and the guy says he paid $1,000 for the console piece.

Guess what, I found a link to the 1st page of the install instruction for the uber rare retractable that most people dont know about. Even has a part # on the top of the sheet. I was wrong stating it came out in the 2001 yr as it is listed for 99-01

Post #19 here shows the holes that need drilled for the not as rare cover. #13 shows more pics of the cover.

When I say not as rare, they still are. I sold obe 6yrs ago now on eBay for over $200 plus shipping and back then they only came up once in a blue moon. The rubber grommets that go into the holes that the rods then go into are also no longer available from Honda and if you dont like rattling in back something will need to be fitted into the holes.
