Shouldn't the temp gauge read right in the middle/50%? Any ideas what would cause it to read higher? It reads around 60 to 65% consistently, does not fluctuate. It's really bugging me

I changed the thermostat - Genuine Honda, no change to gauge, and after removing the old one, I noticed it was a Genuine t-stat too
No air in the cooling system, I filled antifreeze with the specific radiator cap yellow funnel

Thanks

Also: radiator hoses - upper is warmer, lower is cooler. Radiator is newer according to the old owner and looks that way

I have no answer for you sir. But I am experiencing the same situation. Just bought a 99 CRV with 195 k on the clock. Everything works perfectly and she runs like a champ but the temp needle is slightly over half as apposed to the normal slightly under half. I just don't think I'm going to fret unless someone tells me a reason to be alarmed.
