I was considering one because of gas mileage. Well, I drove a manual shift sedan (I have a manual 04 cr-v) and I was not as impressed as I thought I would be. Despite the much lower center of gravity the handling wasn't much if any better than my CR-V. The shifter on the civic felt rubbery and imprecise compared to the CR-V's which is one of the best feeling manual shifters I've driven. I also wasn't crazy about the deep dashboard or any of the instrumentation on the civic. On a positive note the civic rode very comfortably, soaked up the bumps well and overall was kind of fun to drive. The bottom line is I am definatly not trading my CR-V for one just to save on gas.
