Timing Chain broken

i have the ultimate problem. My 2005 diesel CRV's timing chain has broken and the current garage I have put it with have refused to fix it. They say it is beyond economic repair, expensive strip down etc. Mileage is 125000 and it has been a very good runner. What do folk think?

Moved to diesel section.

Best suggestion without spend many quid is remove an injector and poke a camera in. Chances are you'll see indentations of valves in the heads.
At this point, engine is toast.
