My current tires are shot, and I'm considering going with SLIGHTLY wider tires... however, I'm thinking about doing this without decreasing the aspect ratio, so I'd end up with tires just a little wider and a little taller than stock. My speedometer is already reading a few miles per hour slower than I'm actually going, so I figure if I go with 215/70/15 instead of the stock 205/70/15, it will actually make the speedo more accurate than it is now.

Does anyone have an opinion on this? Is it a bad idea? I'm thinking that it might result in a slight loss of power coupled with a slight increase in fuel economy (particularly on the highway), since it would increase my gear ratio, thereby lowering my cruising RPM's.

I have a '98 LX, without anti-lock brakes, so that system wouldn't be affected by the taller tire. Since the change is small, I would hope it wouldn't affect the suspension or any other components either.

Anyway, I don't really know what the pros and cons of doing this would be, as far as handling, ride quality, fuel economy, etc etc. I'd love to hear your thoughts!!
