Very odd to see a report of a gen5 CRV with too much cabin heat.

If the reboot did not address your problem.. best take it to the dealer and have them evaluate it since you likely still have an active bumper to bumper warranty.

Sad to report that did not fix the issue. Within 5 minutes of driving this morning the car was so hot I had to turn the temperature to LO. Even at 58 the fan was blowing full force and overheating the car. Will have to leave the car at the dealer because it only does this in the morning. When I start the car later in the day it works properly and I have to turn the heat up to 69 to make it cozy.

This was from a normal engine start (not the remote start), and the climate control system is on auto... correct?

I ask because if you use remote start.. it puts the climate control on maximum. If you have manually set the climate control system yourself... the vehicle ignores all it's automatic climate controls.

Car was remote started. But once I am in the car I adjust the temperature setting. It is set to AUTO.

Then I think remote start in cold weather is your root cause here. Be sure to read up on exactly how it does, and does not, work.

Simple experiment.. next cold morning.. don't remote start it, start the car from inside the cabin, set climate control to auto and check results.

So i see that it says that it sets the temperature to 72, but shouldn't that get overridden once i turn the knob and set something else?

I don't use remote start... so I can only forward to you what other forum members have said about how it does, and does not work. see the link I provided above.

Wow just read that thread and I have to say my CR-V has never behaved like that. I have full heat within minutes of starting the car, too much heat. Temp gauge goes to halfway up within 5 minutes and that is while I am on the interstate doing 65. I live 1/2 mile from the interstate, so driveway to highway is very fast. I guess tomorrow morning I will do a manual start and see how it behaves.

Fast access to Freeway driving is the best possible way to warm to full temperature, so your experience does not surprise me at all. Others.. rely on remote start to try to warm the engine up before driving.. and that is where much of the ongoing discussion revolves.
