you want to kill the engine and have the ACC on, hmmm not in car but think the Owners manual is on this site somewhere want me to look for it For you?
To shut off engine and leave radio powered in Acc mode:1: After vehicle comes to a stop, shift into Park and continue to hold in the shift lever button in.
2: Remove foot from brake pedal.
3: With your left hand, press the Stop/Start button twice.Engine will stop and accessories will remain powered on in Ignition mode.
4: Release the shift lever button........arty:
Agreed, goofy how Honda designed the logic for US models. If you want to shut off the engine and be in Park with radio or phone powered uninterrupted, follow Wiley11's procedure in Post 3. You need 2 hands to do it and power will end up in Ign. mode.ok. so i'm pull up to the convenience store.... and i want to shut the vehicle engine off but keep the radio on while i am waiting for my friends to come back out.... w/these direction i have to sit there w/the parking brake on or my foot on the brake......
sounds a bit stupid to me...sorry.
i will admit the only time i dislike the shutoff situation mentioned in this thread - is when i am on the phone w/someone. I have to finish my conversation before I turn off the engine.
Not if you utilize post #3........:beb:When i am on the phone w/someone. I have to finish my conversation before I turn off the engine.
oh yes. along w/remember the remote windows....It's one extra step nothing more if asked Lol.
thanks, I like the US version, this way when I put it on park to exit, it shuts off the ACC, thus will not drain the battery. To shut off engine and leave radio powered in Acc mode:
US Models
- BEFORE you shift to Park, press Start/Stop button once. Engine stops and power switches seamlessly to Acc mode.
- Do not shift to Park, as this will kill the Acc power. Apply the parking brake, or keep foot on brake pedal to prevent rolling.
- Shift to Park before exiting vehicle. If you forget, you'll get audio and visual reminders when you open the door.
Cdn Models
- BEFORE you shift to Park, press Start/Stop button once. Engine stops and power switches seamlessly to Acc mode.
- Shift to Park. Power will remain on in Acc mode.
The above is shown in the Power Mode diagram on P. 172 of the 2018 manual. But you have to stand on your head to figure it out.:confused2:
If you read Post 7 you'd see that the three times hack is not needed on Canadian models.Sadly, the three times hack doesn't work on Canadian models it seems.
Before turning off my engine in the car, I always have to make sure I transfer the audio back to my mobile. Otherwise, as stated, turning off the car (and accessories) will leave the caller in silence.
It seems like a pretty basic requirement with telephone and car integration these days imho but i guess it didn't make it on the list.
It appears the answer to your question is no. Per the Owners Manual: "If you leave the vehicle for 30 to 60 minutes with the shift lever in P and the power mode in ACCESSORY, the vehicle automatically goes into the mode similar to VEHICLE OFF (LOCK) to avoid the battery drain."thanks, I like the US version, this way when I put it on park to exit, it shuts off the ACC, thus will not drain the battery.
I will definitely forget to shut off the ACC if I have the Canadian version, but I suspect it will shut it off after a set time.
now my next question, (US version) will it shut off the ACC after a set time if I forget to put it in park and exit the car?
True. I just don't like turning off the car while the tranny is still in gear. Somebody a long time ago told me it wasn't good to do that, although it was with a geared AT. I never bothered to check if that was true, but it seems clumsy to have to do that just to keep a phone call or radio going. If you read Post 7 you'd see that the three times hack is not needed on Canadian models.
