does this have something to do with the ECON mode?

it seems other cars have the same issue, not only honda

is the grind an oil starvation issue?

ever since we bought the crv i've felt it will never last like our 1991 accord

sad everything is made to force you to buy another now-a-days

we like it but not the same quality IMO

Should have nothing to do with econ mode. Grinding seems to be an oil pressure issue. If you're having vtc actuator issues, check out our 60+ page thread on the topic here:

http://www.crvownersclub.com/forums...4l-engine-noise-cold-start-up-crv-accord.html

Long story short, there is no permament fix by Honda for vtc issues and we've worked around it by "bumping" the engine or lately been testing using better oil and filter with better results. Check last couple of pages for info on the filter testing.

Have not heard of other manufactureres having the same issue so would be interested in which ones you've heard about.
