I've been using an iOttie Easy One Touch 3 (V2.0) Car Mount mounted to the windshield in the lower left corner. I've seen people say they don't trust suction cups... That sucker sticks pretty damn well without suction - a function of the material rather than adhesive; you need to pry a credit card under it to get it loose! The clamping action just serves to pull it tight and make the mounting interface firm.
Agree, I've used those in other cars and that thing has never fallen off, even in high temps like my toll pass is prone to do. Still have one in my 94 Del Sol.

You should NEVER be using your phone while driving and or stopped at a light, by doing so you're endangering yourself and others in the process.

Especially with latest tech in CRV, there is no need to for GPS, etc. Just place your phone in between the slider in center console where it fits perfect and forget about touching your phone until arriving at your destination OR PULL OVER.

In Ontario, Canada it's illegal to even look or touch your phone and fines are over $500. I hope they keep cracking down on those who text and drive, leave your smartphone alone!

Hi freestyle,
You may be 100% right but we are all adults here..hopefully.
Some people are just looking for opinions and not a lecture ?
Again i do agree with you but its not my place to tell anyone else what they should be doing in their own car.

This is the issue, this thread might as well be about how I can drive Drunk and NOT get Caught.
People don't get it, don't touch your phones while driving!

Distracted driving causes more deaths than impaired driving does and it's only getting worse.

Holding or using your phone in ontario is illegal. I havent found anything that says i cant look at my phone if it is mounted on the dash.

That being said this thread isnt about the legality of phone usage while driving. Or lecturing others.

With all due respect, I think you are missing the point of the thread here. This is about phone mounts, not a commentary about hands-free use, or is it legal or even appropriate to touch the phone while driving.

You may want to start another thread for a discussion on distracted driving. LOTS of distractions!

EDIT: And I agree with poster "lizzurd", who says says "I havent found anything that says i cant look at my phone if it is mounted on the dash."

Government website specifically states it's illegal to even look at the screen of your mobile device, for which you'll be ticketed. If you receive a notification, it's human nature to want to look at your screen. This is a distraction and is causing accidents.

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/safety/distracted-driving-faq.shtml

"When driving, you are not permitted to use hand-held communication and entertainment devices or view display screens unrelated to the driving task, with the following exceptions:
-Calling 9-1-1 in an emergency situation
-When the driver is lawfully parked or has safely pulled off the roadway and is not impeding traffic.

Devices NOT included in the ban:
-Viewing a display screen used for collision avoidance systems
-Viewing a display screen of an instrument, gauge or system that provides information on the conditions, use and immediate
environment of the vehicle or that provides road or weather information
-Ignition interlock
-Car audio screens that display still images

Only Commercial vehicles are exempted, see link above.

Point is there is ZERO need for a phone mount since it's a distraction and is killing people. And per link above is illegal in Ontario, Canada and should be everywhere. Like I said, might as well talk about how can I drink and drive. We have Android Auto and Apple to view gps maps, etc. No need for phone to be mounted to view your notifications, etc.

Well, there are those of us who don't care what the law is in Ontario since I have no intention of going there. And as others have said, the lectures are more appropriate someplace else. Try Facebook, I'm sure you'll find lots of folks to debate it with there.

I bought online the custom one built for the 2017-18 CR-V. I just buy the attachment part, and then buy the Arkon adapter parts to attach to the pro-clip base to actually put the phone into Solid as a rock. Turned out the pro-clip location blocked a lot of the air vent, so I modified it (I cut off the side part entirely, and added a black plastic part that goes ABOVE the pro-clip and vent, and now it is perfect, and I even got a removable Arkon tablet attachment to put my ipad onto. So this is a good combo. Pro-Clip for the solid vent attachment, and Arkon accessories to attach to the pro-clip. Combo keeps the price down.

Hi All. Just bought a 17 touring. Found this thread as I was very happy with my cell mount in my previous car and was wondering where to put it in crv. I didnt want a cable running down my dash so I wanted phone close to usb ports.I also like the look of it in this place and was even asked if it was if the magnet was "part of the car"

I've used Proclip mounts in all my cars for ages (except in the CR-V as it has a Kenu-style spring-loaded holder on the vent. I do have an over the vent-mounted Proclip in my daily driver.

Proclip's non-intrusive but sturdy design is good for the car's resale value and feels better overall when you haven't damaged the interior for just having a phone mount. Don't worry about the vent blocking. It has no effect for cooling efficiency as there's plenty of room between the mount and the vent. There's no actual blockage, just the direction issue but you have a spare one to aim at your face if needed.

I have used ProClip on another of my vehicles. In that car (a 2000 Toyota Rav4) the cabin and dash is tiny and very very limited with where you can put things (even the vents are so small that you can't really use those holders that shove into the ven fins) and so ProClip was the best option available. However, because it works by shoving into existing seams, cracks, crevises, do you find that overtime it creates permanent gaps in your panels?

Otherwise, the build quality and materials are top notch.

Nope. Never seen a permanent gap. Unless it's a Ford or GM, then the gap was already there.
