My understanding is Mobil 1 & Pennzoil full synthetics are amongst the best.

Valvoline not so much.

When I change the oil I use Mobile 1 oil and filter. When the dealer changed the oil they use Pennzoil and Honda filter. In a pinch (massive sale) I'll use O'Reilly's full synthetic and Wix filter.

With summer coming and OD on my mind I've been thinking of going with a slightly heavier weight like 5W-20 or 5W-30. Any recommendations?

5w-20 is really no “thicker“ than 0w-20 at operating temperature, so don’t bother with that route. If you’re willing to take the warranty risk, 5w-30 would be a good choice. Valvoline Advanced Synthetic 5w-30 is on the thin side for this weight and fuel dilution would likely just bring it comfortably into the 20-weight range.

Whatever my Honda dealer puts in it. Been doing that for 26 years on my Del Sol Si that now has 197,000 miles and it seems to work just fine! :) Sometimes it pays not to overthink things.
