I have just purchased a 2007 CRV but I have an issue with the nearside wing mirror. when the car is started the mirror tries to reposition itself (even if they haven't been retracted) but just continues to whir and click. this clicking noise will continue for a number of minutes and then stop. it can also be stopped by leaning through the pasenger window and forcing the mirror past its resting point and pulling it back. is this something I can fix myself?

I'm baffled by this post. What country are you in? I don't think the CR-V has motorized mirrors. They adjust electrically (mirror surface itself), but I don't think the arms have ever been mechanized to retract and extend.

This is a known problem with UK spec CRV mirrors. It happened on my Gen II a few years back.

For our US friends. The mirrors on UK spec models are adjusted electrically just like yours. However on UK spec cars models the whole mirror can be folded in as well. It's becasue we have narrow garage door openings and narrow parking spaces in our parking lots.

The problem is caused by failure of the limit switch built into the motor that folds the mirror in. The result is that the mirror does not know where it is every time you switch on the ingintion so it tries to home itself until the electronics time it out.

The cure is a new mirror motor (scrapyard / specialist breaker is best source as honda part is expensive.) You need to take the whole mirror assembly apart sadly it's not a small job. If you get the whole mirror assembly from a specialist breaker it's an easier fix.
If you have a manual it's easy enough to do the job, just takes a fair amount of time.

Hi ,

I have the same issue with crv electric wing mirror.
Does anyone know if there is there a fuse that can be removed for the wing mirror motor?

thanks

I know this is an old post but I have a similar issue. I had thought that it was to do with an auto fold option when the car is locked/opened. I have only had the crv fro a couple months and it has been like this since purchasing. UK spec 2007 model. If anyone has any info please pass on

I believe your answer is in post #7

If you don't need the mirror to fold, access the drive motor and disconnect it.
