After three weeks of driving this beauty I have my first complaint
A The Remote start absolutely sucks, when I bought this vehicle he said I can start it with my phone. There is supposed to be a three month trial for free. But the dealership wants $700 to download the software, then a yearly fee there for after.
Does the 2021 CRV come with the cellular remote software for free, ???

I didn't even know that option was available. My dealer never mentioned it, neither does my manual. Perhaps it's a Canadian thing?
Or maybe it's new for 2021?
You can start it with your fob of course, but you would need to be in range.
I would never start a car I was not in or within touching distance of, but that's just me I guess.
In the year I have had the car I have used the fob to start it precisely once, as a test when I bought it.

Assuming your model is the same as those sold in the US, I really appreciate that Honda's remote start is built in rather than through a phone.

From what I understand, remote start from other makes just start the car with the climate control set to whatever it was last set to, while on Hondas, remote start will start the heat, heated seats, and defroster on a cold day, and AC when it's hot.

I think what the OP was after was being able to start the car from outside the range of the fob.

My other car has an optional feature called "phone as a key" that allows phone to replace the FOB. I have "start by phone" and lock or unlock from phone capability. The lock part is useful if one doesn't remember if you locked the vehicle after you are out of range of the FOB. This app will show if the vehicle is locked or not, and allow you to lock it, from anywhere there is internet access.

From what I have read, one reason for using an app to start the vehicle (rather than using the FOB) may include a worker in a very cold climate where the range of the factory remote FOB is not long enough to start the vehicle in order to warm up the interior. Many remotes need to be within line of sight or very close to be able to start the vehicle. I guess it all depends on one's needs.

Sadly, I am not surprised that the OP's sales person apparently misrepresented information about the CR-Vs app. Shameful.
