I am light years away from being a mechanic. That said -- when you say it won't start, does the engine turn over ? Is there electricity from the battery to the push button ? Is there no sign of electricity from the battery? Lights on, horn works, brake lights come on ? I am sure that those here who can help you will want this and more information than you initially provided -- the more information the better they can help you. Good luck.

How can you tell if it's your starter or alternator if you have a normal key instead of the push button start?

The starter and alternator and push button are 3 very different things. There are ways to diagnose problems with each of them. Just having a button instead of a key really doesn't have anything to do with how you would diagnose a starting issue.

It's kind of funny. For my job I do heating and air conditioning repair. When someone's furnace breaks, everyone always thinks it's a bad thermostat, even though that's rarely the problem. Usually I'll walk right by the thermostat and go right to the furnace to start my troubleshooting. This has burned me a couple of times when I couldn't find any issues with the furnace and then finally checked out the thermostat to find it on "off", or maybe set to cooling instead of heating.

I guess so far I'm with the others who are casting their vote for "bad battery".

Good luck.

Any messages on your instrument panel? "STARTER SYSTEM", "KEY NOT FOUND", or ???

Do you use your CRV every day? Or, did your CRV sit unused for weeks, then it wouldn't start?

As others have said, it's most likely you have a weak/dying/dead battery. But before you replace the battery...

1. Inspect your battery terminals for corrosion: CAR BATTERY Corrosion — Causes, How-to Remove & PREVENT it

2. Check fluid level in your battery:

3. Simple test for dead battery in the key fob:

Bottom Line: Give us more clues & info -- tell us the whole story -- then we might be able to pinpoint the most-likely problem AND suggest potential fixes.

Thank you for all. I have no issue with the car. But just in case, if starter is dead (and battery is good) then then what happen when push button. No sound, no click or anything we can tell.

Correct, the symptom of a dead battery is"

NO SOUND of Start
Looks like its going through the process of Starting
Malfunction light goes haywire

Good luck

Pushing the start button with your foot on the brake pedal is the same as turning the key to the start position, then releasing it. It engages the starter motor.

If this is a vehicle that requires the brake pedal to be pressed in order to start your vehicle and when the brake pedal is pressed and all lights function on the dash board including headlights but there is no crank sound (no crank no start) it could be the plastic pedal pad the safety switch on the brake pedal has fallen apart and broke from the hole so that the safety switch has no surface to press against thus the vehicle won't start. Those pedal pads are known to break fall apart. It happened with my older 2002 5MT CRV. The pedal pad broke on the clutch pedal. I thought it was the starter wire then starter then battery. I took the battery and starter to Advance Auto and both tested fine and the wire leading into the starter fine as well as fuses. Then I had an epiphany about the pedal pad and sure enough on the floor amidst the dirt in the floor mat where the crushed pieces of the pedal pad.
