Greetings,

I am Mamasal and I purchased a decent 2015 CR-V 2W 5DR 2WD EX-L NAVI thru a dealership. (WOW, that’s quite the mouthful!) previous owners were an elderly couple, the car doesn’t even look like it’s been touched. They just racked up a lot of miles. ¯\(ツ)

I am actually in the market for some advice regarding installing a remote start component. While living in the Pacific Northwest, more days than not, the climate’s a bit too frigid for my liking. And being from Thailand I suffer from always cold syndrome and would prefer to be able to start my car prior to getting in it.
I did a little research. The part itself is not too costly. It’s the labor that would hike up the price.
Manufacturing the part has been discontinued, but there are some still floating out there. Some folks went with a different option (not Honda made) and ran into an issue where they were able to do remote start, but the feature would shut off once they opened the door. That discrepancy doesn’t bother me, but for some it might.( I am so cold all the time I will take what I can get)
Anyways, I am all ears about people’s thoughts, I would just be tickled pink if I could get some insight. So far it’s a great car, I love it. I would love it even more if I could acquire this ability.

Looking for:

Pros and cons

Is it even worth it to installing it or just cut my losses and suffice with a blanket like I always have?

Go with the Honda brand or go with a different brand but a good high-quality option?

Installing it myself versus letting the pros do it?

And go! 🏁

Welcome!
Forget the remote start. Get some warm Winter gear, go out and start it. If you don't, you will never get used to Winter temperatures :)
I travelled round Thailand in the 70's, a beautiful country.

Welcome to the CRVOC forum. Many fine folks here from around the globe.

Click on your avatar in the upper right hand corner, —> Account Settings, —> Vehicle Details. Complete for your vehicle, then hit Save. In this manner, that vital piece of information automatically appears whenever you post.

With 6 generations of the V on the road today, knowing the year & trim level of the vehicle in question helps those asking & those willing to respond.

I read somewhere that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. If you can afford it, get good quality cold weather gear. This will permit you to other things outside, if you so desire.

A problem that has been noticed throughout this forum is that adding on extra electrical gear can create other problems with your vehicle, especially if they are DIY installations. If you feel that you need a remote start system, get the best that you can afford & have it professionally installed.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Hi! welcome to the CRV club. My CRV came standard with remote start and it's super convenient, especially on the really cold days. Currently seeing temps in the 20's F in NYC and love not having to freeze my buns while the cabin warms up. Go for it! :)
