Yea, without any additional information I’d probably try to whack it with some spray silicone or white lithium grease

 

If lubricating doesn't work, or doesn't work too well, you might want to have a seatbelt cutter tool in the center console available, just in case of emergencies. Costs a couple bucks.

 

I would try to look inside to see if anything has fallen in there. Maybe use a flashlight? Next I would remove it and tap it while it is upside down. Next oil it with silicone lube so as to not leave a greasy film that attracts dust/dirt/lint etc. These latches rarely wear out. Like crvtouring said "blow it out with some high pressure air before taking it out to clean it.

Howdy! Here's an update! A few weeks ago I went over to the local Honda dealership, showed them what it said in the manual, and the guy said that they could hook it up to their diagnostic computer, and IF a code came up for the seat belt, they would replace it, but if NOT, they would charge me something like a HUNDRED BUCKS for hooking the machine up! I told him I would be back... I'm going to get my oil/filter changed in the next week.... and I'm hoping that my mechanic's scan tool can pick up a code for the seat belt, but I'm guessing his scan tool isn't "sophisticated" enough to do that.
Thoughts on this recent development???

OBD codes are for things that affect emissions. It’s the “check engine light”. There’s no such code for seat belt 😂😂😂

Usually a physical problem will not display a code. On the Volvo we had, when a deer t-boned the driver side door, it deployed all seatbelts as well as 2 airbags. The seatbelts have an explosive charge cylinder, kinda looks like a CO2 capsule. When that blows, it changes the resistance of the electronics built in, and that will trigger the SRS light on the dash.

When that happened, I used the VIDA software which displayed a "SRS high resistance" error on all 4 seatbelts as well as the 2 deployed airbags.

After I replaced all 4 seatbelts, I reset the SRS module with VIDA, it removed the 4 high resistance errors on the seatbelts.

The airbags, NY being a nanny state, consumers can't get airbags here, so those 2 errors stayed. That didn't affect passing inspection though--we passed with blown airbags.

Yeah.... I'm aware of that, which is why I figured that guy at the Honda place was bullshitting me(Can you say that on this forum!?) For now, I'm just living with it.
