2006 suspension questions— am I sagging?

9.2K views 5 replies 3 participants last post by  bizalich
A picture from the rear and 3/4 would help determine if that small amount of sag is an issue.
Our 197,000 mile V has tread-to-body gaps of 3.5" f, 2.25" r on the original suspension.

Before you spend $$$, try jacking the rear of the car until the tires>body are a LITTLE higher than you would like.

THEN loosen any control arm bushings, and re-tighten them. The aim is to change the 'relaxed' point in the bushings, so that the rear is held up just a little. (Be sure to support the car safely, jackstands will save your life)

Don't try and over-adjust, as this would cause early failure of the rubber bushings.

Post back with BEFORE & AFTER pictures.

Your gaps look OK to me. (Actually, the latest picture looks MORE saggy)

BUT if your shocks are having control issues, it is time to start shopping for struts. Sounds as if your V is no longer passing the 'bounce test'.

THANK YOU for doing the research here and across the 'web for folk's experiences with replacement struts. Satisfaction with all the brands seems to vary.
