I think you’d be better off buying a CVT from a salvage lot. My understanding is that CVTs are difficult to rebuild and Honda dealers won’t even attempt to do so, relying on Honda’s sole remanufacturer instead.

I checked junk yards (car-parts, anyway) and CVT's range from $1500 to $2500 depending on mileage, does anybody know who Honda uses as their re-manufacturer??

Don’t know. But I suppose you could ask your dealer’s service department. I wouldn’t expect an answer, though…
