Re: green vs. white, as soon as you put the shifter into "S", even though you may be driving at a higher efficiency in "S" than you would in "D", the green bar automatically turns white just because the gear is in "S".

Re: 2.8L, (interesting how your country is displaying the same units of measure as Canada lol), I read somewhere, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong, when you use engine braking, it is the vacuum of the pistons moving in the cylinders acting with the transmission that is slowing the car down, so you can get high engine RPM without any throttle/fuel input, because it is caused by the vehicle motion/transmission to the engine. therefore, the extremely high fuel efficiency the computer is indicating should be correct in the case you described.
Not complaining if that fuel efficiency figure was correct 😁.

2017 AWD Touring and I consistently see 24.4MPG due to my city and winding road drives. On longer freeway trips I tend to settle in at 30ish MPG.

Los Angeles to Vegas, all associated driving over the course of the three day visit, and then the drive home home: 36.1 mpg.
And, if I remember, there are some pretty steep grades on that route, so 36 mpg+ is great! (I-15) I once lived in Victorville, and my folks lived in Vegas. FWIW, I don't like Vegas!

Victorville to Vegas doesn't include Cajon Pass!

Gas prices are nutts... I actually had to drive with Eco mode on. You know things are serious when that happens.. 🤣

Does Eco mode adjust anything else other than keeping the revs low? I dont have a heavy foot, but my fuel economy shot up from 9-8LKm/100 to 6LKm/100. 😃

It adjusts the ECU to force it to become more efficient and lethargic - particularly if you want to make a quick getaway, say off a slip road onto the motorway/freeway.

The tardiness is noticeable - only real benefit of ECON is when driving at constant higher speeds. In my experience around town, its utterly useless and chokes the cars performance and doesnt bring meaningful MPG benefit(s).

I live in a very rural setting, even though I haven had my CR-V for long, getting about 31. Most recent tank is at 36.3, for now, that one has a small amount of highway mixed in..

I used ECO for about six months after the first few months of ownership and then turned it off. It actually had poorer gas mileage in ECO than normal mode. Our driving is around town for the most part. I have not turned it back on since late 2019.

New owner here and the whole idea of de-tuning the car with an Eco button is borderline comical. In "standard" mode it gets very good mileage and not being able punch the gas to access the bit of acceleration it does have, would make it borderline dangerous.

In my short ownership, I find my mileage in the 24.5 / 32 range with AWD and I do drive it fairly agressively.

The ECO button does not impact acceleration when you put the pedal to the floor. That said, it's something I don't use in any of my vehicles.

I’m averaging about 31 without ECO, trying ECO now and getting about 33 average, on our 22 front wheel drive. Like you, I don’t care too much about the power loss and may save using ECO only for long highway trips, but I did want to see how much it helps the mileage.

I believe ECO mode also restricts the effective cooling of the AC system, something that us desert dwellers just cannot have. 🔥

So, with that good fuel economy read out, sounds like you clearly were in not in compliance with the mandatory pack-drivers speed rush on that route of ~80 mph. :p

That route between the two cities is kind of a crazy rally style frenzy to see who can get to the destination fastest... including the buses and semis.

Going to be taking a long trip with the 2022 CR-V EX-L in June, wondering what the numbers will be with 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) and lots of luggage. We will probably put close to 4000 miles on the car in less than 3 weeks. Hoping we can average about 36 ish???

28.5 MPG is the combination highway/city driving. I never reset the B on milage, so this is what it reflects.
On a highway trip 33.3 - 34 something. This is with the normal backups and in tunnel traffic.
Just a note: If you never reset the B trip meter (or A for that matter) my experience is that it will start over when it reaches 10,000 miles. In other words, don't expect it to show a lifetime MPG at say, 55,000 miles.

Going on a trip CR-V will be loaded. 2 adults, 2 children lots of luggage. Wondering how well it will do? How much does ECO help on the highway?
