Hi all,

I've been trying to change the air filter in my wife's 2024 CR-V EX (non hybrid) and I'm having difficulty getting the air box off/separated. I undid the two clips on the left side of the air box and I've been trying to lift up and pull to the left but it seems stuck on the right side where the tabs are. This is the first time the air box has been opened and I'm wondering if the filter is stuck to the air box or if something else is causing it to stick?

Any tips or tricks? The few videos on YT show the airbox popping off with little effort. My guess is they were taken apart previously and maybe it's easier after that first initial take off.

Such a simple task that should take 30 seconds but I don't want to break anything.

It really shouldn't be that hard. If you have a rubber mallet you might try tapping on the cover to loosen it but you shouldn't have to. Once the clips are undone push the cover that way (toward the clips) lift it up.

 

Thanks for the reply and believe me I agree it shouldn't be that hard, but this is being very stubborn. I've tried wiggling it back and forth and left/right all while lifting it and it just won't come off. I'm going to try again another day but quite frustrated with it right now.

You might have to get a flat head screwdriver and pry it loose. Just be careful and work it loose.

 

 

Thanks. I saw that video and another one like it. Mine does not pop off like that. Going to try using a screwdriver as suggested above to see if I can work it loose.

 

Did they change the airbox for the turbo 1.5 in the Gen 6? In my Gen 5, its four bolts holding the cover on.

 

Yeah they must have. It's two clips on the left side and two tabs that slide in on the right side.
