A/C Expansion Valve

A/C was no longer cooling in my son's 2013 CR-V and after $180 diagnosis at the Headquarter Honda dealership in Clermont, FL; they stated the expansion valve needed to be replaced ($860) and the refrigerant recharged ($200). That seems to be at the high-end of the repair costs I've seen online.

We no longer have a trusted local mechanic (retired), so thought I'd get a 2nd opinion here. Thank you.

I would search YouTube for videos on how to replace it. This will give you an idea of what is involved in doing such a job. Then you will know if price quote is outrageous or not.

That seams really high priced. Did you get a break down of labour and parts. The x valve can't be more than 200 and it doesn't take $660 of labour to change it out. $200 for a reill of a r134 system is over priced

I had the same issue on my 2008 CRV , it turned out that the actuator was faulty, I would definitely have a look at this as well before spending out, it's in the footwell of the drivers side (in the uk it is) , bought. a second. hand one £15 works perfectly
