Hi forum members, just joined today to get a better understanding and advise of maintaining and repairing my 04 honda crvrex! This suv was given to me last week, not running, it has 195112 on the odometer with trouble codes (PO341 and PO661). my thought is to change the camshift position sensor to clear the PO341, but was told that I need to replace the timing chain first. I've called several shops and was quoted prices from $1500 to $1800 to change the timing chain. I'm really not sure if I should pure that type of money into it as there may be many more issues ! As for the PO661 code, I have no idea where to start. All advise given will be greatly appreciated. thanks guys

Welcome to the forum

P0341 and P0661 are both circuit codes. It could be valves or solenoids or relays or connectors or wiring. So, that is where I would start. By doing an inspection of the part and follow the wiring to see if there are any rubbing or places where heat and vibration could affect the wiring, connectors. At least spend a little time looking at the engine, wiring. If I was absolutely sure that replacing the timing chain would fix it to as good as new then I would do it. However, if it doesn't then out so much money. My gamble would be to find something simple like a broken wire or rubbed thru wiring harness. Or try before I can decide to spend so much money on a used car.

Recently, P420 and another code that indicated O2 sensor. The sensor had broken at the bung (where it screws into). Looked at the live data and saw the O2 sensor dead. No response to throttle. Had to replace the cat and resonator and muffler along with all the pipes Over $2000. But, knew once done, the car can be almost as good as normal. Pass state inspection. It still needs more work but one thing at a time.

Please enjoy the ride when you get it fixed????
