Checking the IACV!('99)

Oh..."New".... I never replied to your last post! My mechanic is against screwing around with the FITV....maybe I can get him to change his mind, though! :)
That's ok.
The idea behind removing the IACV is to see if the plunger moves from side to side when energized. If the solenoid is good you will hear it click. If the plunger got stuck you will not see it moving.

While it is installed.
You can turn engine on and spray TB cleaner at the hole that is used by the IACV, ( big hole in front the brass TB plate).

If it's not stuck it sould get cleaned up.

Keep in mind that you need to clean up the idle adjusting screw passage as well. For that one I advice to remove the TB.

With a complete TB clean, check timing, if all is good, consider re adjusting the FITV.
