Code P0302 and P0304

For reference, PO302 and PO304 are misfire codes for cylinders 2 and 4, respectively.

The misfires could* be linked to the oil consumption but I don’t think that’s likey/common on 2nd Gen CR-V’s. I say could be linked because I can imagine a scenario where you have a head gasket leaking oil into those two cylinders A) burning oil and B) fouling out the plugs, but again, unlikely.

All engines need three things to run: air, fuel and spark. So there is something interrupting one or more of those systems on cylinders 2 and 4.

At the end of the day, you need a proper mechanic (worth their weight in gold) to diagnose which one of these systems is causing your problem. Spark plugs is the easiest/cheapest thing to try, so that was a good idea. But coils/fuel injectors could also cause the same set of codes, so, 🤷‍♂️. These types of problems are hard to diagnose “over the phone”.

Here is a YouTube video that goes through one man’s process of diagnosing a PO302 code on a CR-V. I hope it’s helpful. Mod Squad, if this is inappropriate, feel free to delete. I’m new here.
