Hello all, first time poster here.
My girlfriend has a 2004 crv, and it recently overheated. I turned the AC on and checked to see if the fans would come on, and they did not. After test driving, it was found that it would stay cool at highway speeds, but then overheat at slower driving.
I learned you could test the fans by jumping the connection at the fan relays, so I did that and found that the cooling fan is operational, but the condenser fan is not. I'm guessing the motor is worn out on the ac fan since the corresponding fuse was blown too. It's not hot by me, therefor I figured i'd just focus on getting the cooling fan to work, and fix the condenser fan later. I checked the other fuse for the cooling fan (20A), and it was fine. I know the horn works, so I swapped the horn relay onto the cooling fan, and still nothing. I jumped the connector pins at the fan switch, and it did have power, and the fan did come on. The fan motor sounded fine. From what I gathered, this sounded like a bad fan switch, so I replaced with an aftermarket switch, and it did not work. I then replaced it with an OEM fan switch, and still, the cooling fan will not come on when the engine is at operating temp, or when the AC is on. Coolant is full.
I also felt the upper radiator hose after driving, and it was hot, so I know the thermostat is at least cycling coolant properly.
What could possibly be causing the cooling fan not to turn on? Any help is greatly appreciated.
