Indeed, Sport modus is 'better for your ears', so to speak. We don't have a lot of hills here in The Netherlands (as flat as Florida) but I use the car for towing a boat trailer. Same effect as going uphill when accelerating with a boat hitched to the car.

Glad to hear they are "very capable in poor weather", living in Montana that's something we want and need. Picking up a EX in Vegas on Tuesday.

Our 2012 was a tank. My only experience with the new one was driving it home, but it was nasty and icy. drove by many cars and trucks in the ditch. Good start!

Here in the US we are not allowed to tow anything with our hybrids. :)

In the EU version the car by standard comes with active noise cancelling system acc. to spec perhaps this would not work well, when the I-VTEC hits 7000 RPM's :) But I never considered the engine sound is fake ... it actually sounds quite cool, giving impressions is bigger, more deep sound, than just a 2.0 ltr ..

Not sure why the Hybrid needs ANC as the Honda blurb talks about VCM cylinder deactivation and exhaust noise. Surely we aren’t talking about the Hybrid here.

Can anyone explain how the speakers cope with audio from the infotainment, ANC and Sat Nav instructions at the same time. I’m sure there’s a simple explanation as to how three systems work in parallel so I’d appreciate it if someone can enlighten me.

I also have a suspicion that the ANC is impairing sound from the audio system and I can’t find the unit in the RHD Hybrid to unplug it. Anyone know where it is.

I would be assuming the way it works alike for instance in the headphones, the difference here is I cannot find a button to adjust the level of noise cancelling ...

Anyways, I realized just now ... the sound system although I did not get any upgrade to it, not even sure if that's an available option, works very well ... surprisingly well ... Anyone has an experience to compare how was it with previous generations?

To subdue road noises that get into the cabin... particularly low frequency noises.. which will drone on you and subconsciously affects some people more than others. I believe the ANC frequency response is fairly limited to the low end of the audible spectrum, so I consider it to be mostly a "rumble cancellation" unit.

I do not know if it is the Head Unit, or the Audio Power Unit that handles Sound mixing and sound selection. But I suspect it is done in the Audio Power Unit.. which is an integrated function unit.

I do not know if the Hybrids locate the APU (ANC/Amplifier/Sound Mixer) the same as in the ICE version. But if we assume it is located the same... it will be under the passenger side rear seat if I recall correctly. A number of members here have performed upgrades to their sound system components... and that is where they end up connecting and integrating any new components they add (like a sub woofer for units that do not come with one).

Hi everyone, yesterday I joined the club with my purchase of a 2021 CR-V Hybrid EX-L AWD in Obsidian Blue Pearl.

I have been sitting in it and setting everything up for almost two days now and I love it.

Today however I put the car in Neutral and I started hearing a sound from under the car like a church choir chanting and angling "ahhhhhhhhh" sound.

I put the car in reverse and the sound stayed, put the car in drive and it went away a few seconds later. When I come up to alight and hit my break the angles singing come back but not as loud as before.

I thought. maybe it had something to do with the regenerative breaking system, but its doing it when I am not hitting the breaks. Nor am I using the paddles behind the steering wheel at the time.

Is this noise normal? Or is there something wrong with my new car?

Thanks!

That doesn’t sound good. Mine doesn’t make any strange noises other than the whine of electric motors instead of gas engine sound when hard accelerating.

Record the sound using your phone so you can upload it.

This is the acoustic vehicle alerting system (AVAS) to alert pedestrians that a vehicle is approaching. It’s required in some countries, including the US.
You’ll only hear it when you’re driving in electric mode.

Metcafjohn is correct. EV can be very quiet. Apparently there is concern of visually impaired stepping off the curb, as they cannot hear the vehicle approaching. Choir of Angles is an interesting way of putting it as its supposed to prevent sending pedestrians to meet Angels. Theoretically it may also work to alert teens on cell phones...

Yes that is the robot choir. As my dad said so eloquently, it is to alert blind pedestrians they are about to be run over by an EV. :D It is activated in EV mode under 25mph. To me it sounds like I am flying a starship.

I’ve never heard mine make a sound. I’m in the States so maybe cars here don’t have this?

Going to try to listen for it tomorrow in case I just never noticed.
