Hi all, I'm posting for a family member who has a 2015 CR-V with 93K miles. She recently had a faulty crankshaft position sensor error code pop up and erratic engine performance. She had the sensor replaced but the problem persisted.
The independent shop she usually goes to says since it wasn't the sensor, it's faulty wiring. So we brought it to the dealer, and they are saying it's caused by the aftermarket starter she had installed a year ago.
Is this plausible? They have charged her a lot of $$$ for a new starter and new crankshaft sensor....I just don't want her to be taken advantage of by the dealer.
I would have suspected the wiring way before I ever thought an aftermarket starter could cause problems, but I'm not a Honda guy.
Not to mention. they upsold her on new brakes/rotors/coolant flush/fan belt and other stuff she wasn't prepared for. All in all a huge bill. I digress.
Any advice is appreciated!
