CRV misfiring after hard acceleration

I accelerated really hard to get past some traffic last week. Immediately after doing that my CRV started misfiring on acceleration. It's ok if I accelerate gently but if I put my foot down it misfires. I changed the spark plugs and it was ok again for a short while but the problem soon came back. Does anyone have any ideas about what the cause might be?

It's a Mk2 (2006) 2ltr petrol with auto transmission.

Thanks.

Run your codes....nearly 100% chance that its either a VTC or VTEC code due to debris in one of the screens. When I got my CRV, this happened to me quite a few times until I was able to flush all of the old carbon/sludge/etc out of the engine - it kept clogging up those screens (expecially the VTEC one on the back of the engine). The way you can tell without running the codes is if the bucking starts at 2900-3000 rpm...
