Dust

I wasn't really sure where to post this, so Mods please feel free to move it.

I have found that my 2021 CRV interior is a complete dust magnet. I have to periodically take a damp cloth and wipe it all down. It sits in a garage with the windows closed and I rarely leave windows open at all when parked. I don't recall this with my 2014 Civic.

Thoughts?

All our cars are Dust Magnets.

I attribute that to my cleanliness OCD.

A damp towel is the correct way to remove the dust. Anything (like a cloth that attracts dust) will leave a film that attracts the dust FASTER.

I think it is all the plastics in the cabin, which generally have a sleight electrical charge on them which is all the fine dust particles need to land and stick.

And simply opening and closing the doors sucks dust particles into the cabin. :p

I take a microfiber cloth and spritz a fine light mist of water over it and use that to collect and remove the dust particles, followed by a clean wipe with a lint-free microfiber afterwards. And once I am out driving in bright sunlight.. I always see at least one part of the cabin interior I missed. o_O

Yep! My former vehicle (2000 Mustang GT) was no exemption... just a plush microfiber cloth works wonders. Also, distilled water and microfiber works well to clean things up.

yep... those work pretty well in fact. (y)

But I avoid them in my vehicles only because of the plastic holding handle and I don't want to bump anything in the cabin with it. I guess I could use them without the handle of course.

The new Swiffer pads for dry floor use that were designed to pick up pet hair and dander.. are fantastic and would probably work as well as a tack cloth for vehicle cabin cleaning. They are puffier and so better at pick-up, and carry a higher static charge than any surface they are used on.

My 2021 Hybrid's floor is a dog hair magnet. II have put in seat protection and some some mats of the floor but parts of the floor is full of hairs and you cannot vacuum and get all hairs gone.

Our 2017 CR-V Touring was always dusty. Instead of the Honda filter, I ordered this one from Amazon:

Our 2017 was always full of dust. Finally, instead of the Honda filter, I order and installed this: FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda, CF11182 for Select Acura and Honda Vehicles
It's been over a month, and there is considerably less dust.

Interesting filter. Might consider it when it is time to change. As I like to drive with the front windows and sunroof open, not sure if this would help. Looks easier to change than my 1998 Accord was.

Yes, my CR-V 2021 Hybrid collects dust inside. I was wondering if its not sealed very well because the battery needs to vent.
