Fog lights with high and low beams 2013

there has to be an easy way to get the fog lights to be on with both high and low beams, they fill in so well on the low beam pattern and the high beam pattern sucks, i think if the fog lights were on with the high beams it would fill in the area in front and the ditches on the sides of the road very nicely, thanks in advance from a new member...............t

By law the fog lights are supposed to only have a certain range and are NOT supposed to be high beams. Also, the bulbs will probably not be able to handle the extra current. If you REALLY want to do this, you would probably have to wire in a new circuit from the high beam switch. But on a 2013 model, this will immediately void your warranty.

Your better bet is to just upgrade the bulbs to Silverstars and get more lighting all the time.

I am in aggrement re the useless high beams in my new CR-V they seem to be able to return bright
reflections from roadsigns a great distance down the road, the problem is that you cant see the road
surface when on out of town trips its not safe to not see well on country roads with animal crossings.
I asked my dealer if the headlights could be out of alignment,they said thats normal output?
Has any one tried Silverstar's

not talking about using the fog light as the high beams, and i know fog lights arent supposed to be on with the high beams, BUT just wondered if a relay could be disabled so that the fog lights were on with both the high AND low beams............thanks.....................t

I own a 2013 CR-V and the other night I was using my Hi-Beams, I noticed right away that the lighting up close sucked. I'm pretty good with electrical systems and will perform a mod over the weekend. I'll make the mod so that when the hi-beams are turned on, the low beams and the fogs will activate also. I'll post soon after to let everyone know what the mod entails.

I absolutely agree that the high beams are terrible. I have never seen a car with such poor visibility with high beams. I have a 2010 Camry, and like most cars I've driven, when you switch to high beams, the low beams stay on (my Camry doesn't have fog lights) and light the road in front. We live in the country and the CRV high beams are unusable and very unsafe. I questioned the dealer because I was certain there was something wrong and they tell me they are functioning normally. I can't believe Honda would design something so badly as this.

I made the conversion on my 2013 CR-V E-XL w/Nav this last weekend. I took some point to point measuring in order to figure it out, but much like other Hondas that utilize an IMCU, you just need to know what to look for. When I switch to Hi-Beams, the Low Beams as well as the Fog lights come on. If I hit flash to pass only the Hi-Beams come on. If I leave the Hi-Beams on when ignition is off and I exit the vehicle, the auto timer will turn them off as normal. I'll post the mod soon with pics.

As for your Camry situation, you probably have separate Hi-Beam and Low Beam bulbs. On the CR-V Hi and Low are in one bulb. Normally you don't run Hi and Low in a one bulb scenario because of potential overheating or excessive current on the bulb circuit ground wire. However, I compared the heat being radiated from the lamp housing with Hi-Beam only and Low and Hi together, I noticed only a slight difference over 15 minutes. (my battery was on a charger at the time) Also, the current on the ground leg was only 9.2 amps.

Would love some details, pix, etc. yes, the Camry has separate lows and brights. More than anything, would love access to a wiring diagram/ schematic. Honda and Helm have been hopeless sources.

When I added fogs to my xB, a new switch was added in the same location the two blank switches are on the 2013 next to the dreaded traction control switch on the crv.

There is no reason the brights on an H4 bulb should have poor light output. On my Vstrom, the H4 headlights are superb, but of course, the reflector is much bigger than the crv.

I do have 55watt hids on the way, should be here today.

Try removing the fog light switch from the dash and rewire from the back of it to the Battery or fuse.

The earlier post about a fix is missing the point. We don't want both high and low beams on at the same time. We want the fog lamps to be on with either hi or low beams. If someone knows where I can get a hold of the wiring diagram for the 2013 CR-V Touring I could probably figure out how to mod the Fog lamp relay. I too want control of my fogs lamps. This business of the fog lamps only being on with low beams is bogus. Some bureaucrat in a office came up with that rule. I want to be able to light up the road ahead and the ditch while I am driving these back country roads of mine.

not being an ass, but the original question was to run the fog lights with high beams and low beams. Not interested in running all three together and I DO appreciate your efforts, just want the fog lights to run with the high beams, and the low beams..........thanks so much in advance........................t

This is an excerpt from the tutorial that I am building. Am I missing anything?

The first three options automatically occur when the Hi-Beams are turned on.

1. Hi-Beams with Fog Lights
2. Hi-Beams with Fog Lights and Low Beams
3. Hi-Beams with Low Beams (since some don’t have Fog Lights)
4. Fog lights operate as normal even with Hi-Beams on or Low Beams off. (An option
for those who have pulled the DRL fuse because of an HID conversion)
