I am considering buying a 99-01 CR-V EX. I would like to take it camping on the weekend and sleep inside if possible. I've looked all over but can't find the length from the rear of the folded backseat bottoms to the tailgate. I am 5'10" and wondered if I could put an air mattress and sleeping bag in back without having to sleep on an angle or curled up. If someone has this measurement, I would greatly appreciate it.

I would also like to know the measurement from the cargo floor to the headliner. Can a person comfortably sit up in the cargo area?

Thanks

I realize this thread is old but just in case anyone is wondering, I'm 6'1" and last year I was in a messy situation, had to sleep in my 1st gen crv for a couple weeks. With the seats folded down and the front seats moved forward, I was comfortable sleeping in there. I could sit up straight too. Obviously it was a little cramped but I had no complaints. Now I camp and sleep in it regularly :)

I'm still looking for the max interior length for sleeping in a Gen 1 if anyone can provide that.

I need two dimensions:

1. Interior height from cargo floor to ceiling i.e. can you sit up fully in the back?

2. Max length with the passenger seat all the way forward and tilted forward and the back seats folded down. Need the max length from the back of the passenger seat to the closed tailgate. i.e. I'm 5'10" and wonder if I can sleep fully extended on the passenger side next to a couple sterilite boxes and cooler on the driver side. I just want to be able to roll out a thermorest on the cargo deck.

TIA

Are are some threads through this site and others as well as videos on youtube of people making sleeping platforms for the back of 1st gens. 1 of them may have the demensions your looking for.

Have you tried just using the seats to make the bed that the 1st gen EX and SE models are known for?

I find this subject interesting, I have a 2007 with swing door. I thought I could use it fer camping but find a wee problem. Rear passenger seats do not fold flat, backs fold down seats tip up but not flat. I canny take seat out lack of storage, considered a platform but it would have to be some 16 inc high!!!, so have compromised I use the rear passenger seats, front seats pushed forward rear pushed back, floor space between have put 2 crates which holds my kitchen stuff & food with a board across top level with rear seat & a 3inch sim to level off. does anyone have a practical alternative, other thing IF I should use the luggage area HOW do you open tailgate door there is no release handle. Apologies fer long story, appreciate all & any answers. Steuart, GB.
