My 2010 CRV got a new battery and I need the code on the glove box side for the radio code and my registration , however, the glove box will not open. I cant make it release. I even removed the bottom of the top glove box but I cant find any type of surface to press to make it release.
what is the best way to open the big glove box? Without a functioning lever?

Over time, dirt can build up in the latch or it might get stiff because it's not lubricated. You can try spraying a little silicone or putting graphite powder in the latch to make it move more easily. Another thing you can do is use a hairdryer to warm up the area around the glove box. This could help loosen up any parts that are stuck in the latch.

Simple question - are you sure that the glovebox door is not locked? Have both an Accord & a CRV. Just tried this out on both vehicles.

If the key slot points towards the top of the dashboard, the glove box door is UNLOCKED. The door lever moves & opens the glovebox.

If the key slot points towards the lever handle, or towards the steering wheel, the glovebox door is LOCKED. The door lever barely moves & the glovebox door remains closed.

Instead of banging against the glove box door in the hopes that the stuff inside will rearrange itself, push firmly against the door with one hand while attempting to use the door lever to open it. The catch for both vehicles is on the side - Accord towards the passenger door; CRV towards the shift lever. In both instances the catch is approx. 1/2 inch below the appropriate corner.
