I have the the regular Hybrid Sport AWD and while installing some plastic add-ons I had the tailgate open for about 5 minutes. In that time the cargo lights never went off. I looked all over for a switch and never found one. Is there a switch anywhere that controls these lights? The manual is mute on the subject. I have the interior light switch set to off too. What am I missing? I can think of a dozen reasons why you would want to have the tailgate open without the need for the lights not to mention a senseless battery draw.

AFAIK, there is no switch to turn them off - so however long your tailgate is open for, the lights will stay on.
Same as the 5G.
One option is to swap the bulbs out to LED ones (if they arent already) - so that will mean the current draw is significantly reduced to the point where its negligible.
