Locked Fob in Cargo Area

Hi Everyone
I had an "interesting" event happen several days ago.
I had visited a big box store and had tons of stuff that I placed in the cargo area. In doing so I placed my phone and key fob on the cargo floor to free both hands. I remembered to pick up the phone but not the key fob, which being black, was easily overlooked amid all the purchases. I closed the rear cargo door but could not get the drivers door to open despite repeated attempts. I finally remembered that I had sat the fob on the floor of the cargo area. Fortunately the cargo door had not locked and I was able to open the door and retrieved the fob.
The drivers door then opened normally. Has anyone else had this experience? Is there a "dead zone" for the fob in the cargo area.
Regards
Bill

Yes......the fob needs to be closed enough for the sensor to detect it. I don't know if a weak battery will shorten that distance? But yours being so new I would think the battery to be strong enough. Possibly something in the cargo area blocked the signal??

However- on my 2015 I can mash my unlock button on my fob from across my yard and unlock my door. But if my fob is only a few yards away the door will not auto-unlock when I pull the handle.

It's true for me. I have to be very close to the door for the CR-V to unlock by touch.
What I've done a couple times is forget to turn off my hybrid when I park since it's so quiet. It alerts you and won't let you lock the car, but it took a few for me to realize that sound was actually saying "hey...turn off your car stupid!"
