Rear pads wearing fast

Welcome to the CRVOC forum. Many fine folks here from around the globe.

Thank you for completing your Garage. With 6 generations of the V on the road today, knowing the year & trim level of the vehicle in question helps those asking & those willing to respond.

AFAIK, all modern vehicles use diagonal-system braking: LR connected to RF, RR connected to LF. If your master cylinder was the problem, your pad wear would be along these lines.

Have you checked your parking brake system? To me, it sounds as if your parking brake is not releasing completely.

You might want to try this. Find a quiet street that has a pronounced slope. Drive so that you are facing down the slope. Stop your vehicle, engage your parking brake, place your transmission in neutral, release your parking brake. If you start gathering speed quickly, your parking brake has fully released. If you very slowly start gathering speed, your parking brake has not fully released.

Hope this helps.

Good luck. Keep us posted.
