Required Parts for a 4-Speed AT to 5-Speed AT Swap?

Hey everyone!

While I'm still sorting out the engine issues on the V I started thinking about swapping the 4-speed AT for a 5-speed AT from a local salvage yard. The miles are way lower than mine, and it's local. My question to the hivemind is: what else would I need? Since the car's already set up for AT I figured I'd probably need to swap out the shifter mechanism and possibly the ECU as well, but before I start forking over cash for parts I may/may not need I wanted to pose the question.

(I did run a couple of searches, but they came back for AT to MT swap)

Thanks to all!

I suspect you would need the 5-speed auto's ECU (or PGM in Honda-speak) at a minimum, as you said. Hopefully there aren't any extra wiring plugs....remember a 5 spd was fitted to cars with a TPS rather than a direct cable.

Since the 5spd is local, take pics of your trans top & bottom and compare while visiting...before you fork over the cash.

I'd also be looking up specifications...are the final drive ratios the same? In other words, are cruising RPMs reduced, or will you just be experiencing an 'extra shift'?

+++++++++++

Off Topic, but we had a Mitsubishi Mirage (Dodge Colt) with the 8 speed manual.... You could always find that sweet spot for max torque! :love:
