Hello to all, any other of you have this issue on your CRV with the back doors ?

I find it hard to believe it would rust there if some small amount of water can get in there (or even if it was in a flood 🤣🤣🤣🤣) unless the paint was broken. It may have been a Friday when the doors were fitted at the factory and that top corner contacts and wedged against paint.
Edit: I changed my opinion after looking more closely at the photos. The water is getting past the seal. There must be a way for it to get into the door frame. It collects there and caused it to rust out.

what’s the warranty on paint and rust?

you could try:
Remove weather stripping
Remove loose snd flaking rust
Grind surface with a wire wheel which will also remove any affected paint
Check how the doors are closing and if they’re crushing that area
Treat with rust converter
Paint with rust paint
Top coat with colour matched rattle can if desired
Spray with fluid film regularly

the original problem will still exist snd it will come back. Remove the weather stripping and inspect the top of the door frame, find the problem and please post back photos.

In the event the OP is not a Post n Poof, I have seen corrosion similar to that before. The root cause was from the paint and coating being scraped away by a strap clip used to secure a light bar, CB radio antenna or cargo strap.

The photo of the area on the rear door reveals severe corrosion to the point of perforation.

Also notable is that is the exact location of the machine weld that joins the top rail to the frame.

The door jamb is visible in one photo and reveals no damage which eliminates door alignment as an issue.

While it appears that the doors can be repaired, it would likely be a better option to replace both rear doors with undamaged used parts.

To sum it up: Dat be ugly!

Wow! I was just wandering through this board since I hadn't been here in a while. Found this post and didn't surprise me that this was happening to someone else.

My 2017 CRV EX AWD experienced the same rust issue on all four doors. It wasn't noticeable on the front doors as much as I open and close them more frequently. The back doors are pretty bad. I'm getting close to buying a new car within the next year so I'm sure trade-in value will be bad because of the issue. I've decided after having Hondas since the 1990s that it's time to go with another brand. Honda was great for years, but I'm finding they seem be be slipping on quality.

My sister, brother-in-law, and niece all traded their Hondas in for something else and haven't looked back. I would stay with Honda, but I'm just not impressed with what I've seen with the newer models. The new CRVs don't have foglights which are a must for me as I go to various locations where it's needed.

I don't want to drop a lot of money on a Passport or Pilot as they are too expensive for me. Some competitors seem to have a lot more to offer and are getting just as good reviews. I'll miss Honda, but I think it's time for me to move on...

something like this isn’t caused by Honda. It was somebody cranking down a strap where it shouldn’t have been. Maybe even the dealer when shipping.
