Sunroof/Moonroof leaking?

Hello friends,
Today, there was great weather, so it was about time to give my CR-V a wash. I went to a touchless car wash. I opened the shade and noticed water drops on the rear of the glass/black frame. And the top side of the the shade was also wet. Has any one noticed this?

ours was replaced under warranty, complete new sunroof (except for the glass) due to a leak in the back too. Guess what ? still leaking. Ours does not leak onto the shade it leaks a few drips in the metal channel in the back. You have to open the shade and reach up to feel this channel. Only a few drops. Have not decided my next move yet, only leaks on hard rain too

That channel you found a few drops of water in is the rear drain channel. As long as the water isn't going past it onto the headliner and sunroof shade, it's doing its job.

If the sunroof seal was damaged or the sunroof glass wasn't aligned properly you could still have an issue. ....aligning the sunroof is a tedious task.

I had my sunroof assembly and sunroof motor replaced do to the roof glass getting stuck in the vent position. Be prepared to have your car returned with a bent headliner because they will not remove your windshield so they can remove the headliner out of the car so they can change the room assembly. Also hopefully you won't find screws and trim pieces in the trunk and gaskets and other trim pieces not fully installed. But I didn't have any leaks nor do I have any now.

I'm happy to hear that there are Honda service departments out there that do the right thing. I may have to start traveling a little further to have my car serviced by a dealership with techs that are more thorough.

if you open the sunroof there are two holes in the front corners. those are connected to tubes that channel the water down the a pillars to below the windshield. get an air compressor with an air spraying nozzle and force some air down those tubes. they are more than likely clogged up with debris

And, if you don't have an air compressor, here's another trick that works. Buy a roll of that plastic cutter line that's used in weed whackers. Fish a length of it down into the drain tubes in the window pillars. Work it up and down a few times to dislodge any debris. This trick was suggested to me for a previous vehicle I owned with a moonroof, and it worked great. I haven't needed to use it on my V, yet.
