Upon start up in the morning I get a very high whine which dissipates after about 30 seconds and then hear what sounds like a misfire. I rev the engine a bit and that seems to also dissipate after a few seconds. I drive around 30 for 1.5 miles on a dirt road to reach the highway. Acceleration is fine and tranny seems to make changes smoothly and on time but by the time I hit 50 climbing a hill the car jerks as if there is a misfire. After about 3 miles the jerking stops and there is no problem the rest of the day. Yesterday it jerked more and for the first time the check engine light flickered and then went away. I plug in the blue driver and there is no code. I'm perplexed. My mechanic is 30 miles away so I'm thinking of getting a hotel room in that town and have him experience the morning start up and jerky drive but looking for wisdom from you.

By jerking do you mean the car is going into limp mode?
