2006 suspension questions— am I sagging?

Hey everyone,
just got a new-to-me 06 LX… she is pretty nice with 140k miles. However, the suspension is creaking like mad… I changed out the compliance bushings through the Honda dealer, but it is embarrassingly creaky still.
i want to get all new loaded struts, sway bar ends and tierod ends— thinking KYB and Proforged respectively (thoughts on those choices?)

my question is twofold: 1, from the photo below, is the rear end sagging from what y’all can tell? And 2, if I put in all new shocks/struts will that fix whàtever sag there might be? I am thinking sbout a 1.5 inch lift&level kit from hrg, but dont want to end up with the rear-end sticking up…

i know some this might have been addressed before in the forums, but honestly i could not find any good info regarding what will happen when I swap out the suspension…

i appreciate all the help, and am looking forward to getting this project going, and i have some other mods on the horizon as well— i am thankful this forum exists with so much geat knowledge!

cheers,
rob

A picture from the rear and 3/4 would help determine if that small amount of sag is an issue.
Our 197,000 mile V has tread-to-body gaps of 3.5" f, 2.25" r on the original suspension.

Before you spend $$$, try jacking the rear of the car until the tires>body are a LITTLE higher than you would like.

THEN loosen any control arm bushings, and re-tighten them. The aim is to change the 'relaxed' point in the bushings, so that the rear is held up just a little. (Be sure to support the car safely, jackstands will save your life)

Don't try and over-adjust, as this would cause early failure of the rubber bushings.

Post back with BEFORE & AFTER pictures.

good info, thanks!
below is a rear 3/4 pic from today… not sure how it can help, but maybe you know more than me?
other than that, I am at just under 3” gap tread-to-body on the front and just under 2” tread-to-body on the rear… so seems pretty saggy.

Welcome to the forum OP.
I can't tell from the photo. m willing to bet your struts need to be replaced. I replaced mine on my old Mk2 a few years ago. My Honda mechanic took me to the back and showed me the old strut. He pushed all the way down on it and it did not come back up. I also got a lot of spring noise.
Gotcha… yeah, I think these are pretty smoked too; feels like the family truckster going over bumps—suspension keeps moving after the bump or coming up to a stop

So, hey everyone… thoughts on these KYB quick struts?

at 550$ for the set, seems like a good deal on what most forum people seem to have had good luck with… but what do I know? Thoughts?

Your gaps look OK to me. (Actually, the latest picture looks MORE saggy)

BUT if your shocks are having control issues, it is time to start shopping for struts. Sounds as if your V is no longer passing the 'bounce test'.

THANK YOU for doing the research here and across the 'web for folk's experiences with replacement struts. Satisfaction with all the brands seems to vary.

Hey everyone...

Quick update: I went ahead and ordered the shocks as an x-mas present to myself, along with a grab-bag of bushings and parts (Front & Rear sway-bar end links from Proforged, F & R sway bar bushings, R trailing arm bushings).

Once all that gets installed, I will post back an "after" shot and let y'all know how the setup is working... then determine if I need to do a small lift or no.

Thanks and happy new year!

Rob
